An antique Roman coin of the goddess Diana set in recycled 18ct yellow gold. The other side of the coin has Diana in a biga drawn by stags. In Roman mythology Diana is the daughter of Zeus and twin sister of Apollo, she is the goddess of the hunt, of chastity and the moon, children and childbirth, and of wild animals, wow that’s some portfolio! Diana is often depicted with a quiver and bow, here she is diademed and wearing a necklace and earrings with her hair up. My jeweller has set the coin in a smooth bezel setting with large loupe to the top, it can be worn either way. The coin is guaranteed as Roman Republic. Caius Allius Bala, 92 BC. AR Denarius. It has a historic cut on the crazy carriage side (who rides out with stags?) but it does not go all the way through.
Hallmark; my London hallmark for 14ct gold
Weight; 5.2 grams
Dimensions; 29mm in total length including large fixed bale, the coin is 18mm wide
Condition; very good condition, wear commensurate with age, the coin has a historic cut to the one side which is part of its ancient charm and does not go all the way through the other side
